From the label
- Vials need a syringe that can measure the dose, for example a 1 mL syringe for a 0.5 mL or 0.6 mL dose, and a new syringe and needle every time.[1]
- Single-dose vials are thrown away after use, even with medicine left.[1]
- Multi-dose vials and KwikPens are thrown away 30 days after first use or after 4 weekly doses.[1]
- Single-dose pens and vials: up to 21 days in total out of the fridge, at no more than 86°F (30°C).[1]
- When the presentation changes, the label calls for training on the new one.[1]
Before the first dose from the new presentation
- Read the Instructions for Use that came with it
- Found the 0.5 mL or 0.6 mL mark on your syringe
- Checked the liquid is clear and colorless to slightly yellow
- Know where used needles and syringes go
- Picked a time when someone can answer questions

For the pharmacist
- Does my plan cover the vial, the pen or both, and what will I pay for each?
- Which syringe should I use, and how do I get more?
- What do I do if I see air bubbles in the syringe?
- Who can check my technique if my weight trend changes after the switch?
