What the label and the clinic records say

  • The label names a history of bariatric surgery as a risk factor for hypoglycemia: serious episodes in 2.3% (2 of 87) on Wegovy injection and 0% (0 of 97) on placebo.[1]
  • Semaglutide from Wegovy tablets is absorbed mainly in the stomach.[1]
  • If a dose step is not tolerated, the label says consider delaying escalation for 4 weeks.[1]
  • In one clinic's records, weight fell 10.3% by 6 months on semaglutide of no more than 0.5 mg a week.[2]
  • The same group's follow-up report gives 14.7% at 12 months; its abstract does not state the semaglutide dose.[3]

Act on these

  • Dizziness, sweating, shakiness, blurred vision, slurred speech, weakness, confusion or drowsiness, or a fast heartbeat can be low blood sugar: ask your healthcare provider in advance how to recognize and treat it.[1]
  • Severe stomach pain that will not go away, with or without nausea or vomiting: stop Wegovy and call your healthcare provider right away.[1]
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea that does not go away: tell your healthcare provider right away.[1]
