Recovery check before the restart call

  • Eating and drinking normally again
  • No vomiting or diarrhea now
  • Passing urine as usual and not lightheaded on standing
  • No stomach pain that is severe or will not go away
  • Every medicine started during the illness is written above
  • Insulin or sulfonylurea use flagged to the prescriber, if you take either

Label rules the restart plan should match

  • One missed weekly injection: inject if the next dose is more than 2 days (48 hours) away; if less, skip it and keep your regular day.[1]
  • 2 or more weekly injections missed in a row: restart escalation at a lower dose, to reduce stomach and bowel side effects.[1]
  • Escalation steps last 4 weeks, and a step that is not tolerated can be held for 4 more weeks.[1]
  • If vomiting, diarrhea or nausea return while stepping up, kidney function should be checked.[1]
  • Insulin or a sulfonylurea taken with Wegovy raises the risk of low blood sugar.[1]

Do not restart on your own; get care now for

  • Severe stomach pain that will not go away, with or without nausea or vomiting: stop Wegovy and call right away.[1]
  • Upper stomach pain, fever, yellow skin or eyes, or clay-colored stools (possible gallbladder problem).[1]
  • Vomiting or diarrhea that keeps you from holding down fluids: dehydration can cause kidney problems.[1]
