How the research connects to the formula

SURMOUNT-1 tested once-weekly subcutaneous 5 mg, 10 mg and 15 mg regimens over seventy-two weeks in adults without diabetes. Each dose group had its own result, compared with a placebo group in the same trial.

STEP 1 and SURMOUNT-1 used separate populations and follow-up periods. Placing their results beside one another creates a cross-trial comparison, which is different from randomizing participants between the two ingredients in one study.

Jastreboff AM, Aronne LJ, Ahmad NN, Wharton S, Connery L, Alves B, Kiyosue A, Zhang S, Liu B, Bunck MC, Stefanski A, SURMOUNT-1 Investigators. The New England journal of medicine. PMID 35658024.

Study design
Randomized controlled trial, 2,539 adults
What was tested
Once-weekly subcutaneous tirzepatide 5, 10 or 15 mg versus placebo over 72 weeks.
What was reported
Mean weight changes were -15.0%, -19.5% and -20.9% at the respective doses, compared with -3.1% for placebo.
How it connects to the catalog
The dose-specific results are from one trial. Comparing them directly with a separate semaglutide trial does not create a head-to-head comparison.

Is the comparison within one randomized trial or across separate trials? Which dose and follow-up period belong to each outcome?
